Italians, Swiss closer to breakthrough tax accord
Italy could be next in line to sign a withholding tax accord with Switzerland. Officials in Bern made the announcement that they’d begin talks this month. Switzerland says an accord would give countries cash, regularise money held in accounts here and allow clients to keep their accounts private. The announcement came out of the blue for many in Bern because relations with Italy on tax issues have been so sour. As WRS’s Jordan Davis explains, the talks are a major breakthrough:
