ICRC meets with Syrian president amid worsening situation
The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross based in Geneva says his meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad generated some positive commitments. Violence in Syria continues to rise since the uprising began there in March of last year—with August being one of the most violent months as thousands of refugees flee everyday.
