How to prepare for mountain climbing in the summer
The avalanche in Chamonix that killed 9 climbers, including one Swiss may have been caused by a climber who snapped off a 16-inch block of ice according to French officials. At least 12 other climbers were injured. It is one of the worst mountain accidents in the area in years. WRS’s Alex Helmick asks Bruno Hasler from the Swiss Alpine Club whether or not this was a freak accident, and how other climbers should approach the mountains in summer:
