How to effectively deal with corruption in sport
A new government report into match fixing and corruption in sport in Switzerland has found that measures taken so far by international sports associations in recent scandals have not been enough to prevent corruption. The government wants to make sports fraud an offense on one level, and on another, make Swiss-based members of international sporting associations subject to Swiss law on corruption. Roland Büchel, Swiss People’s Party MP for St Gallen, has publicly called for Switzerland to crack down on bribery in the sports world.
