Five franc fuel tax hike not enough, says ETHZ professor

All of Bern is abuzz over the environmental tax strategy being hatched at the Federal Department of Finances. The federal council still has not offered up a firm plan yet, but reports that officials are looking at taxes that would bring the price of fuel to five francs a liter by 2050 are causing a huge uproar. Critics say it is too extreme, but one professor says it is actually too modest. Anton Gunzinger is a professor of electrical engineering at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) and he told the Sonntag newspaper that the price of fuel should be 10 francs a liter just fifteen years from now. WRS’s Dave Goodman speaks to Gunzinger:
