EPFL's long arm of learning stretches out to Africa, Asia
The Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne or EPFL, has unveiled a new programme which aims to provide higher education for students miles away from Switzerland. The distance learning project will involve EPFL partner universities in Europe, but also further afield—in Senegal, Lebanon and Vietnam. Unveiling the project, foreign minister Didier Burkhalter said he hopes the programme will give young people the tools they need for their future and their countries’ future. To hear more about how it’s going to work, WRS’s Dave Goodman talks to EPFL professor Karl Aberer, who’s also the institution’s newly-appointed vice president for Information Systems:
