Emissions tests for new cars may be lifted
If you drive a new car chances are that sometime in the future you could be exempted from having to get its emissions checked. The government recently put the idea out for consultation. It was—not surprisingly—panned by car repair shops. But they were pretty much the only people opposed. In fact both the automobile lobby and environmentalists support the idea. WRS’s Jordan Davis called up Caroline Beglinger from the Association for Transport and the Environment. He asked her why an environmental group would side with the motorists’ associations when it comes to emission testing:
