Draft rules for non-EU foreigners require national language
The federal government has unveiled a draft version of new integration requirements for foreigners from outside the EU. Foreigners would be expected to not rely on welfare, to respect the rules and also be able to use a national language to communicate. Otherwise they could have problems renewing their visas. WRS’s Jordan Davis spoke with Adrian Gerber of the Federal Migration Office about the draft policy:

I think, that one should be willing to learn the host language of a country.If one is interested enough to migrate to Switzerland, be prepared to be learn Italian, French or German. In the case of older migrants, or older wealthy retirees, this may prove a challenge, given their own language skills and abilities. However,to keep the mind active and cope with daily activities, e.g. medical, dental, hair appointments and shopping etc; it’s a must….. basically, fit in or don’t come.
