'Dr. Doom' looks east for financial future
He calls himself “Dr. Doom”, but the Swiss economist and historian is actually named Marc Faber. He is often dubbed a contrarian—pushing economic views and investment strategies not embraced by the mainstream—and his outlook on the old economic powerhouses is bleak, as he told an audience in Zurich last night. WRS’s Tony Ganzer was there. He spoke with Faber after the speech and began by asking about a list of Faber’s successes and whether the “contrarian” moniker should be replaced with that of “prophet”:
