Complications plague new hospital billing system
Switzerland’s new hospital billing system is off to a rocky start. Based on Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) codes, it kicked off at the start of the year with efficiency forefront in mind. However between serious delays getting with the program and quarrels over money, that goal is still out of sight. WRS’s Lucas Chambers reports:

Nice job, Lucas. For those hosps that are equipped, the pressure is on the coders to code code code so they can whip those bills out the door. My advice to health insurance companies is to request as many records as you can because coding is anything but an exact science. AND there are around 25, 000 codes to deal with, which leaves lots of cases open to discussion.
