Apologies given for child abuse in Lucerne Catholic homes
Two recent studies have highlighted the mistreatment of children in homes across the canton of Lucerne between the 1930s and the 1960s. In church-run homes, the children faced harsh punishments bordering on torture and sexual violence. WRS’s Vincent Landon has been speaking to historian and project leader Markus Furrer of the University of Teacher Education in Lucerne and began by asking him about the scale of the phenomenon:
