Canton of Bern imposes quota to boost women in government

In Swiss companies only 11 percent of management board seats are held by women. And they occupy only 5 percent of  executive positions. So should Switzerland introduce a quota system? The canton of Bern thinks so. A few days ago, its Parliament decided that at least 35 percent of senior positions in the city administration should be held by women. Liberal party MP Christa Markvalder supports the idea and talks to WRS’s Dave Goodman:
