Bern to build second Gotthard road tunnel
The Federal Council wants a second Gotthard road tunnel. It announced today that it would build a second tube parallel to the original one. A second tunnel will mean Gotthard traffic will continue to flow when the first tunnel closes for renovations in the coming decades. However, more tunnels, the government says, won’t mean more cars crossing the Alps. WRS’s Jordan Davis is at the federal palace:
