Bern restricts permits for some Europeans
The Federal Council has decided to restrict the number of B permits for many eastern Europeans. The government has used what’s known as the “safeguard clause” in the free movement of people accord with the EU. It will apply to eight Eastern European countries for at least a year. Even if those countries account for only a small part of the Europeans coming to Switzerland, the decision could have a big political impact both here and in Brussels.
