Bern commits to big bucks for 2022 Olympic bid
The London Olympics have been warmly embraced by the people of the UK this summer so its not surprising that other countries also want to share in the feel good factor—and economic benefits the Games can bring. Switzerland is one of them. The Federal Council is throwing its weight behind Graubunden’s 2022 Olympic bid. The minister in charge of sports Ueli Maurer gave the candidacy a glowing endorsement yesterday and offered to open up the federal purse strings to pay for it. But before Gruabunden convinces the IOC, it’s going to have to convince an audience much closer to home. WRS’s Dave Goodman spoke to our political correspondent, Jordan Davis, and began by asking how much money the government was ready to front up for the Games:
