Behind the scenes at Basel Tattoo
The Basel Tattoo kicked off over the weekend and will run throughout this week highlighting bands and musicians of all types, including some traditional Swiss acts. Selling nearly 90,000 tickets in just two days, it is the second largest tattoo in the world after Scotland’s, held in Edinburgh. The term tattoo in this case comes from an old Dutch phrase used to tell bartenders to close the taps so soldiers would head back to base. WRS’s Tony Ganzer got an insider’s view from the event’s producer, Erik Julliard.
