Assisted suicide vote centers on who gets final decision
Switzerland will vote for the first time on assisted suicide this weekend. The canton of Vaud is voting on two options. The first is to go along with the initiative launched by the assisted suicide organization Exit. It would make offering the service in elderly care homes mandatory and put emphasis on the patient’s power to decide. The other option is the cantonal government’s counter project, which places more emphasis on making sure a person really wants to commit suicide. Voters might also reject both options.
