Anarchists gather to mark 140 years of libertarianism

Anarchists from far and wide are gathering in the small town of St Imier in the canton of Bern. It’s estimated between 1,000 and 3,000 people will show up. They are celebrating 140 years of libertarian values, as well as a congress that was held here in 1872—a congress that gave birth to an alternative from of socialism. The world may have changed a lot since then, say anarchists, but what hasn’t changed is that the powerful still dominate over the weak. Over the next five days, participants will be pushing for change at a time when capitalism is not sitting pretty. WRS’s Lucas Chambers reports from St Imier:
