Alternative medicine debate far from over

The field of alternative medicine is still sparking debate, two months after voters supported a move to enshrine its importance in the constitution. Campaigners in Bern and Vaud are calling for all universities to have professorships in alternative medicine, so the subject can be taught alongside conventional medicine. They say the strong “yes” vote-–67 percent—shows how important people feel alternative medicines are.  But not everyone agrees. Although Zurich University is one of the few in the country to already have a professorship in natural medicine, Professor Alexander Borbély, the institution’s Emeritus professor of Pharmacology has his doubts about the latest campaigns. He spoke to World Radio Switzerland’s Catherine Allen:
