Carla Drysdale

Carla Drysdale hails from Canada, where she studied journalism in Toronto. She started her career in magazine writing and editing (Flare, Canadian Business, and trade magazines) for three years, and then cut her “hard news” teeth in public radio in Bern over a seven-year stint as a journalist for Swiss Radio International (now swissinfo.ch).

Writing all those short, inverted pyramid news stories unleashed an inexplicable urge to write poems (of course), which led her to pursue a Masters in Fine Arts in Poetry at Sarah Lawrence College in New York.

But, since the journalistic side of her double-life as a writer actually paid the bills, she took a series of jobs in New York, including freelance arts and news reporter at the CBC, and full-time gigs at AOL and NBC, where she was managing editor for iVillage. After 12 years of biting the Big Apple, a longing for her adopted home, Switzerland, kicked in, and she returned in 2009 to work at WRS.
