Alex Helmick’s love of the journalistic process began at age 12 when he read “All the President’s Men.” The West Virginia native headed to Chicago to hone his craft, earning masters degrees in both journalism and business psychology.

He worked as a business consultant during grad school, focusing on strategic planning and goal-setting initiatives as well as training and conflict resolution for work teams.

But he is a reporter to the core so it wasn’t long before he launched his radio career, working as a contract reporter for Chicago Public Radio and National Public Radio. He loves Chicago but couldn’t pass up the opportunity and challenge of reporting in a foreign country.
