There are 70,000 accidents a year on ski slopes in Switzerland. Some are the result of skiers and snowboarders going off the slopes and setting off avalanches, but an overwhelming majority stem from collisions and falls on the slopes.
The equipment is faster, the runs are built for speed and some people feel that the respect skiers once had for one another has largely melted away over the years. So, is the time drawing near for Swiss resorts to go the way of the Italians and hire ski police?
