Swiss-franc mortgages haunt Polish homeowners Thursday, 28 May, 2009 The Polish economy has held up relatively well during the recent economic downturn, but a thorn in the country’s side comes from the number of mortgages taken out in Swiss francs. Since the decline of the Polish zloty against the franc, homeowners are worried about losing their homes, and banks are of course concerned for their investments.
